Our Story
CKN Civis Africa Limited is backed by the legal heritage of CKN Advocates LLP, whose practice traces its origins to 2017 as C.K Nyabuto Advocates and evolved into CKN Advocates LLP in 2023. Across both contentious and non-contentious practice areas, that firm built a reputation for precise, effective and client-centred legal work for individuals, businesses and institutions in Kenya and beyond.
CKN Civis Africa Limited is a separate company with a narrower remit. Where CKN Advocates LLP is a full-service law firm, CKN Civis Africa is a specialist corporate immigration and international mobility practice — the legal depth of the one, focused entirely on moving people and businesses across borders.

Nyabuto Cynthia Kemunto
Founder
Admitted to practice in 2015, with more than a decade of legal experience. Founder and Managing Partner of C.K Nyabuto Advocates, since converted to CKN Advocates LLP. Certified Secretary and Certified Professional Mediator. Holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B, Hons) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law (KSL).
Ruth Mokeira
Co-Founder
Ruth Mokeira leads cross-border mobility and foreign investment advisory at CKN Civis Africa Limited. Holding a degree in International Relations from Daystar University, she brings strong expertise in global governance and diplomatic protocol. She also completed specialized Chinese language, cultural and business immersion training through the Confucius Institute and affiliated universities in China. Ruth leverages her background in international relations and East Asia–Africa trade corridors to help multinational corporations and foreign investors navigate regulatory entry into Kenya and East Africa.
